What a session report shows
- The files the session deleted, edited and created, folder by folder.
- Every command and file edit from the transcript, for Claude Code and Codex.
- What the Guard blocked or paused during the session.
- The sites the agent's processes connected to.
- Tokens used and what they cost at API prices, for Claude Code.
How Undo works
- When an agent starts, Rollcage takes an APFS snapshot of the protected folders it works in.
- When the agent exits, Rollcage takes a second snapshot of the same folders.
- Undo compares the two and puts back only what the session changed: deleted files come back, edited files are reverted and new files are moved aside.
If you edited one of those files after the session ended, it's marked changed since and left as it is, so undoing an agent never throws away your own work. Tick the box if you want those reverted too.
Nothing is deleted. The versions Undo replaces are moved to ~/Library/Application Support/Rollcage/Replaced first, so an undo can itself be undone.
Why not the agent's own undo?
| Undoes | Misses | |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code rewind | Edits made with Claude's file-editing tools | Files changed by shell commands such as rm, mv or a script it ran |
| git | Committed work | Uncommitted work, ignored files such as .env, and anything after git reset --hard |
| Rollcage session undo | Every file in the folder, whatever changed it | Folders on external disks |
Limits worth knowing
- Undo needs the snapshot from before the session, so the folder must be protected. Auto-protect adds a git repository as soon as an agent starts in it.
- Snapshots expire after 7 days or 50 snapshots by default, and an older session can't be undone after that.
- When two agents work in the same folder at the same time, their changes can't be told apart. The report says when that happened.
- Commands and tokens come from the transcripts Claude Code and Codex keep. For other agents the report shows files, Guard events and sites.
- If Rollcage wasn't running when a session ended, there's no end snapshot, so the session is compared with your files as they are now.
Questions
Can I undo a session after I've kept working?
Yes. Everything the session changed is put back, and files you edited after it ended are left as they are unless you choose to include them.
Does undo use git?
No. It uses APFS snapshots of the whole folder, so it covers uncommitted and ignored files too, and it never touches your git history.
Which agents does it work with?
Any agent Rollcage detects as it starts: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor's agent CLI, Gemini CLI, Aider, OpenCode, Goose and Amp. The list of commands comes from Claude Code and Codex transcripts.
